Port Blair, April 26: A general body meeting was called by majority of the Auto Unions of Andaman & Nicobar Islands on 18th April 2023 with an agenda to work jointly for the welfare of the Auto Owners/ Drivers of the Islands. The meeting was attended by the Presidents, General Secretaries and advisors of various auto unions, apart from prominent social workers.

Port Blair, April 26: PBMC has made it mandatory to fix float valves in all domestic/ commercial connections as per ‘Port Blair Municipal Council Water Bye Laws’ 2017 under clause 41.  Accordingly, the general public have been advised to install float valves on their connections. PBMC inspection teams will carry out house to house/commercial/institution inspections to check compliance. In case of non-compliance, disconnection of water supply will be done.

Port Blair, April 26: Due to dislocation of pumping line of APWD at Dairy Farm Junction, PBMC is compelled to reschedule the water supply timing in PBMC areas i.e. Ward No. 1, 2, 3, 6 (part), 7, 8. This situation will continue till the line is repaired by APWD. For any emergency, drinking water supply needs general public have been requested to contact PBMC Control Room 03192-231179/245798 for water tanker. Water tanker will be supplied on payment basis as per bookings made.

Port Blair, April 25: Lt Gen Ajai Singh, PVSM, AVSM, the 16th Commander-in-Chief of the Andaman and Nicobar Command (CINCAN), will be relinquishing command on 30th April 2023, after a distinguished career spanning over four decades. As he prepares to bid farewell, the CINCAN expressed his gratitude to the Hon'ble Lieutenant Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Admiral DK Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, VSM, NM (Retd), and the UT Administration for their support and cooperation during his tenure at the ANC.
